Der Frühling kann kommen

Hallo,

... very strange things are happening around here... believe it or not... all of  sudden it's shiny and bright outside!!! Birgit said this was because auf the sunshine... hmm... sunshine... well... funny word... I should better look this up in Wikipedia... *LOL* But now in honesty (just for a change... *giggle*) - after the horrible grey and wet winter we've had here in Germany the first sunbeams in early spring are totally welcome. And maybe the first sunbeams have also been the reason why Birgit continued to work intensively on Gertie Gumthrop's roof garden - because with garden season starting soon there's a lot of work needed to be done.

And so Birgit is busy at the moment with adding green to the roof garden - but that'll be the topic of another post. Today I'm going to show you the beginning of something else - a sure must-have in the garden of a herb witch with a root gnome being her garden aid. Muggles like us expect a witch to just wave her wand and at once the most craziest plants will grow out of the soil. Well, in reality it's not that easy... even magicians have to follow laws about how and when to use their spells. The Magician's Council decided centuries ago that magical plants needed to be cultivated in soil the classical way. There's a saying about an incident with a witch in the 14th century who was very enthusiastic about carnivorous plants and conjured hundreds of them... It is said she became the first meal of these beasts... not nice... I could have told her before that this was absolutely no good idea... according to me even one Audrey is much too much... eh... where was I... Anyhow, a professional herb witch needs for sure a plant table... and that will be our topic today... done in classical job sharing: Birgit works and I'm reporting. *grin* It all started with this a barewood server table... sadly we forgot to take a picture of it and that's why the first picture shows this table after Birgit had cut many notches into the wood and introduced it to her brushes.

Looks like table and brushes got along well with each other because another coat of paint was yet to follow... to make the whole thing look dirtier and weathered. On top matching leaf knobs were added...

... and the drawer in the middle was dedicated for a special job - but I'm going to tell you about this another time. Besides of this Birgit built together two small kits from Artofmini and added a bit of Birgit-touch to them...

Now Gertie and Orlin will have everything nice and tidy right at hand... at least that's the plan... in reality I just need to have a look at Birgit's work table to know how much theory and reality can be apart from each other... *teehee*

Looks quite well already, the magical plant table... But one piece was still missing... a piece Birgit got as a Christmas gift from Melli some time ago which should finally get its place now:

Schaut mal - was für wunderschöne Blüten:
Sure - the owl shelf! Of course this will hang much higher later on *smile* but I think you might get a first impression this way... Next time I'm going to show you more about the plant table - because this much is for sure - it won't stay this empty! *LOL* Without doubt Birgit is going to place a lot of stuff... eh... nice things on it... but for sure no Easter cactus. Sad somehow... because Birgit's Mom owns a small Easter cactus which is in full bloom now. Have a look at these beautiful blossoms:

But as life teaches us... even something nice can become even nicer... sometimes only a teenytiny addition is needed for this...

... for example a handsome flutterybeary... *LOL* And do I even have to mention at all that having a photoshooting with a plant blooming in pink caused some side effects? No, not at all...

Moths are attracted by light and my little sister by pink... *grin* And while she was already around Rosey helped me with our next topic... Just imagine - last weekend our mailman delivered a big envelope! It was sent from our dear Ulrike - and was of course opened in a wink of an eye... and inside was this:

Liebe Ulrike - vielen, vielen Dank!!!

Ulrike knitted one more pair of socks for Birgit's Dad!!! How great is that??? Totally nice! And of course Ulrike didn't forget to think of the little bearies in the house...

*hihi*
Strawberry chocolate only for me!!! Oh my... strawberries... sweet, red, juicy, aromatic strawberries... *sigh*... also great if they come along covered in chocolate. But believe it or not... suddenly my little sis' claimed this chocolate to be hers!!! Because of the house rule "If it's pink it belongs to Rosey!" she said... I'm really worrying about her now... seems all this pink and pastel in Flower Cottage doesn't do her good... tsssssss... she can be happy if she'll get a tiny piece of the dark chocolate and... oh... ooops... I have to come to an end now... I was spontaneously invited to a Birgit-lecture about the topics "Sharing - growing happiness when giving away" and "How to treat your little sister well". *gulp* Looks like this will be another day when I will have to go barefooted to bed again... *teehee*

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Halloooooo :D!! I get always a big smile on my face while reading your blog posts, have I told you this before...;)!? I think the work table for Gertie looks great so far, but I'm curious how it will look like when Birgit has done her magic, Fluby ;D!! Oh, how very sweet that Ulrike has knitted and sent these nicely warm socks to Birgit's Dad, she didn't forget you both too ;)! I know how you really can share the strawberry chocolate in two equal parts: Rosey will get the pink wrapping paper and the strawberry content is for you Fluby, how's that ;O!?
The Osterkaktus is indeed gorgeous, we had one at home in earlier times, this one was blooming with Christmas, is that possible, or am I wrong ;)!? But, you, two rascals, should really go off that poor cactus now, cause maybe the buds will fall of the cactus and we can't have that *sigh*.
Dear friends, I wish you all a nice week!

Besos:-)

Oh I really do LOVE to see the progress of Birgit's Transformations of Ordinary things into EXTRAORDINARY Things!!! This desk is a great example!!! Hmmmm... I wonder what will become of that third drawer??? And I agree completely that it is good for Magical Plants to be grown in the Regular way... too many Audreys would be a Terrible thing to behold!!! LOL!!! So don't worry, Fluby, I am sure Birgit is keeping ahead of that sort of Disaster.... and Gertie's Garden will be only filled with Well Controlled Magical plants!!! :)
As for the Flowering Easter Cactus.... it is certainly prettier with BiWuBeary's Smiles added... and you must notice I include Rosey in this saying! :):)
We are having an Amazing Warm spell over here right now too... it feels like July already!

Hello Flutterby,
Thank goodness spring is on the way. I love winter, but not wet ones.. The gardening table is lovely. What a great addition it will be. Don't feel bad, I need a few lectures on sharing cheesecake and treating my little sister well also.
Big hug

Was für eine schöne Blume! Die Fülle der Farben erfreuen das Auge.
Geschenk wunderbar. Warme Socken wunderbar.
