Willkommen im März

Hallo,

... just tell me the truth... to which place did February disappear??? Can anyone give me a clue? This is strange for sure... especially when considering there was even one day more this year... *sigh* Is it only me ore does time fly even faster in 2016? Nevertheless... having already March is somehow my cup of tea, see... March - that sure sounds like spring is around the corner! And not to forget - one month closer to strawberry season!!! Yeahhh!!! Oh my... sweet, red, juicy, aromatic strawberries... I can't hardly wait anymore... But I suppose until we will have strawberries again a lot of time will still have to pass by - including several month's beginnings when it's once more necessary to help Birgit with the update of her many calendars. You know me - I'm a gentlebear from top to toe! *giggle* Let's see what our wisdom calendar is offering us for this month - a saying from Africa about hope being the anchor of the world.

A very nice saying... I'm still happy that Pandora has been able to close her box still in time to keep hope inside. *wink* And I bet you're now expecting some more nice thoughts for the month's beginning... but I need to disappoint you this time because instead of this I would like to take you along with me and show you Gertie Gumthrop's roof garden. Guess what - it's already finished!!! This was fast, wasn't it? So, drumroll please... I may preeeeeesent now: The roof garden!!!

Tadaaaa... would you have expected a witch's garden to be this colorful in bloom? Eh... my... teehee... have you just wondered why this roof garden is so tiny and not finding itself on the roof of Gertie's retirement home? Didn't I mention that I was talking about the roof garden of the roof garden? Have I really forgotten this detail - must be all the work with updating the calendars... *tweetbuahaaa* Ooops... Birgit has just cleared her throat in the background... so back to being serious *coughcough* - Birgit was crafting along once more for Gertie. It all started with a special bracket fungi Birgit has kept which grew on our lilac tree being destroyed from a hurricane last year... which might be somehow the fungi's fault too.

But Birgit has kept it, as a souvenir... I instead am taking this opportunity to show once more pictures of this tree:

Beautiful, isn't it? You can almost smell the lilac's scent in your nose... and on top this very handsome guy in a purple rain... *grin* Anyhow, Birgit planted tiny  (and I really do mean tiny!!!) sunflowers and roses on this bracket fungus. Birgit has made these long time ago from a kit by Busch which is intended for railroad models in the scale HO / 1:87 (A bit of insider's information: If I was going to tell you how Birgit was cursing when putting these flowers together Blogger would probably fire us... *teehee*) And now it was showtime for the miniature flowers...

... als Mini-Garten. Schon immer wieder faszinierend, was man in magischen Gärten so alles finden kann... Kork!
... becoming a miniature garden! Always kind of fascinating, the kind of stuff you can find in magical gardens... *smile* A garden in a garden... nevertheless... for this the big garden needed to be finished yet. So far there's only the lawn on the roof - and although Gertie Gumthrop and the other Witch Towers inhabitants know their protection spells very well... but a little safeguarding could not be wrong. But what would such a thing look like... hmmm... maybe in the range of a picket fence? No, not very likely... *LOL* And of course Birgit had as usual her own ideas about things like these - and in this case the answer was... cork!

Sure - Birgit took big pieces of cork and placed them around the garden. And in the end it looked like this - with flashlight...

... und einmal mit *hüstel* Tageslicht.
... and once more with *coughcough* daylight.

Hier noch mal im Detail:
Some details:

As you can see the rock wall grows directly into the cork rock. And because Birgit was already busy with spreading colored structure paste all over she also covered the end of the stairways.

Well, now you finally know how such a magical roof garden looks like!

Nevertheless... somehow not yet... because this much is true... this is only the beginning! ;O) As Laotse said - even the longest journey begins with a first step. We're wishing to all of you a great March with hopefully many first or further steps!

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Ulrike

Oh my, you have worked hard, even for TWO gardens!!! I love the very tiny garden and I agree with Ewa: it's worth every curse word of your Birgit ;D!!
What a genious find of Birgit for using pieces of cork as a roof garden fence, because it's light, though rough and you can paint it in every color you want!
I can't wait to see more of the "not-so-tiny"-garden for Gertie, Fluby.
I wish you all a Happy March too. Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona :D!!

Dear Fluby, I was also wondering where February got to! And I even had some Vacation Time which always seems to count a little bit extra! It sure raced past.... but as you said, it just brings us quickly towards Spring!!! I also am glad that "Hope" was saved for our World..... and I "Hope" you will tell Birgit what a Genius she is!!! The cork walls for the roof garden are AWESOME!!! I have never seen such fascinating pieces of cork... but I am sure glad Birgit had them in her stash! Also the Teeeeny garden blossoms on the old fungus shelf is a wonderful way to remember the lilac that was so dear! (The pictures are So beautiful.... I want to rush back to making my mini lilac now....!) I am as eager as before to see the next installment of Gertie's Garden!
Oh, and before I forget, please let Birgit know that the Kit has arrived safely on my doorstep.... now I just have to add it to the pile of projects underway.... (Did I need another project???? LOL!!!) This is surely going to be a fun Spring project!!!

Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben
